sage estrogenic activity
sage estrogenic activity
Sage does not raise estrogen the way hormone therapy does. It contains phytoestrogens, plant compounds that weakly mimic estrogen by binding to estrogen receptors, and early human and animal research suggests it may modestly influence estradiol levels. Most evidence shows sage helps relieve menopause symptoms such as hot flashes and night sweats, though the research is limited and mixed. People with hormone-sensitive conditions, and those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, should talk to a doctor before using sage supplements.
